about Burlington prayer breakfast

The Burlington Leadership Prayer Breakfast is modelled on the National Prayer Breakfast but conceived and organized by a small group of Burlington citizens. It offers an opportunity for people in the community to come together to give thanks and pray for their local leaders and community services. Also, it's an opportunity to hear an inspirational speaker who is living out his or her faith in the workplace and the community. The program also features an inspirational musical presentation.

The event is held annually in late April or early May and attracts 500 - 600 participants.

The inaugural Burlington breakfast was held in April 2007 when our guest speaker was Kim Phuc. As a child, Kim was the subject of the Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph "The Girl in the Picture" taken during the Vietnam War. At our breakfast, Kim spoke of forgiveness.

Why Do People Attend?

The Burlington Leadership Prayer Breakfast is attended by local leaders, church groups, businesses, emergency services and local community groups. It provides an opportunity for people to come together in celebration of their faith and connect their faith with the workplace and the community. Hearing the guest speakers share how their faith has led them in everyday life provides inspiration and attendees tell us that they leave the breakfast uplifted and refreshed.

“The annual Burlington Leadership Prayer Breakfast is a wonderful event that demonstrates the faith and commitment that exists throughout our community. Our residents come together to support local leaders and community services through gratitude and prayer. Looking back to 2007 when this breakfast first began, there is a truly remarkable history of speakers who have shared stories of personal growth, forgiveness, and connectedness, inspiring everyone who attends. “The Annual Burlington (Leadership) Prayer Breakfast has something for everyone!

Great food, wonderful fellowship and an inspiring message for leaders and those aspiring to lead, for those re-affirming their faith.

For those searching for real meaning in their life and for youth who are hopeful for a future with a foundation.

Most importantly, everyone will leave with the Good News that if God is at the centre of your life, everything else will find its proper place.”

We believe it is essential for Christian leaders in every sphere to come together for relationship building, prayer and envisioning the great future that Jesus has for the expansion of his love and grace through our lives.
